34 Weeks: What I’ve Learned

  1. We may not quite have everything ready at the house, but I’m officially ready when she’s ready  ;)
  2. At 33 weeks I had my first “oh my gosh, that hurts, please stop moving” moment. While it was painful, it was also very soothing to know she is in there healthily moving and getting comfortable.
  3. I can wake up in the morning and know if it’s humid, raining, or nice and dry outside. My fingers have turned into weather meters. Wet/Humid=puffy with tight rings. Dry=smooth and normal.
  4. I know 2 ladies that both had their first babies this past Saturday. They were both a few weeks early. While I know it isn’t up to me, I’d be perfectly okay with holding our baby girl earlier than March 11th!
  5. I washed all the baby clothes this week. One load was all pink materials and when I cleaned the lint trap it was the cutest pure pink fluffy lint strip I’ve ever seen.
  6. I wake up almost every morning in a panic when I think the wrinkles the sheets leave on my skin are stretchmarks.
  7. Zantac 150 has become my heartburn night-in-shining armor. It has joined the ranks with my daily vitamin/pill regimen.
  8. I was asked by a friend how many times I pee in a day. I decided to do a random count yesterday and the total= 14 visits. It was a light day for me!
  9. For our 3rd wedding anniversary we were gifted a Chili’s giftcard & 2 movie tickets. That may be our last date as “only the two of us”.
  10. Just then writing out that we are fixing to go from a house of 2, to a house of 3, makes me even more excited!
  11. I recently found my first “love-marks” from baby Ringl. I was surprised how well I handled it. Of course they aren’t so much stretch marks as they are purple star-looking marks on my leg. I don’t think any body changes could really upset me at this point. Do I want to get to my beginning weight, yes. Do I expect my body to be exactly the same as it was pre-pregnancy, of course not.
  12. I’ve been freezing Stephen out of the house all winter. He comes home from work and changes into jeans, a shirt, a hoodie, and keeps socks on. I’m usually wearing a cotton skirt and tanktop and still get overheated.
  13. Riding in the car is rather uncomfortable. 30 minutes I can handle. An hour or plus is just not cool. I now travel with a pillow for my back.
  14. I’ve been reading Ina May’s “Guide to Childbirth”, and I’ve gone from being kind of scared of giving birth to really excited and comforted. It’s an experience I know I will never forget, as well as one I don’t ever want to forget.
  15. I’m eating smaller meals, more often. When I’m full, I’m horribly uncomfortable.
  16. While writing this baby Ringl is busy squirming around. While I can’t wait to hold her I know I’m really going to miss feeling her every move, twitch, and especially those sweet hiccups.
  17. Charlie Horse = Painful!
  18. While sleeping through the night isn’t happening, I woke up twice last night to baby Ringl adjusting and swapping positions. I love waking up in the morning to Stephen putting his hand on my stomach asking me ‘why isn’t she moving yet’. Definitely one of my favorite things in the world!
  19. While I do occasionally complain to Stephen about my growing body, I still feel amazing about myself because he constantly tells me how attractive (his words: Hot) I am, even with these extra 32 pounds. I wish/hope every woman has it as good as I do.

The Pretty in the Details

We had a doctors appointment this morning and it went really well. I think we were in the room with the doctor for about 90 seconds total. Just long enough to hear a solid & strong heartbeat, which is always music to my ears! My friend Sara actually let me borrow her fetal heart monitor, so I have listened to Sarah’s heart quite a few times in the past 2 weeks!

I shared with you the other day about the wonderful baby shower my sister threw for me this past weekend. I showed you pictures of some of the fabulous ladies that were able to attend, but didn’t share many details. There is so much that goes into throwing a shower, and I didn’t want any of the pretty & fun elements to go unnoticed. The shower pretties:

All the hanging banners were real simple and fun to make. Such an easy DIY project that can be transfered to the nursery for wall decor :)   Miriah also gave me the black frame to use in Sarah’s room.

We had some yummy snacks and played some cute games. One of them was that the girls each cut a piece of yarn to the length that they thought would measure around my stomach. Thankfully I’m not crazy sensitive because DANG they were far off! It was really humorous. I can imagine it’s hard to cut a piece of string like that, I guess you have to think ‘belt’ length, but you can’t wear belts when preggo, so… ya.

You did a great job Ri, thank you so much for such a memorable day.

Loving The Weekend

Before I spend the rest of my day in baby Ringl’s room sorting through things I thought I would share some photos from my weekend.

My sister, with the help of some great friends, threw me a baby shower on Saturday. I had such a fun time, and I loved getting to have my friends together and catching up with them. You are all so sweet to have come, and the gifts you gave are so appreciated. I just can’t wait for Sarah to get here so she can be loved by all of you :)

Thank you again to everyone who came and celebrated with us. I had such a wonderful time, and my sister did a great job of throwing a shower for her soon-to-be-here niece :)

Heavy Load

Today marks the start of week 32 of our pregnancy. That means we only have 8 weeks to go people!

My mom came over yesterday and helped me do some cleaning and organizing (does organizing ever end?!?) and she snapped these photos because Stephen and I are horrible at taking ‘weekly photos’.

.

(please excuse the sleepy eyes & complete lack of a tan)

Because mom is a pro with the camera she was quick enough to snap this picture while I was busy being my all-natural self…

.

What can I say, she’s getting heavy!

A Weird Week

This will hopefully explain why I’ve been “missing in action” this week…

.

On top of feeling exhausted, I went shopping for some clothes and somehow ended that eye-opening experience with a pack of starbursts and some chocolate pudding. How come those “I gotta get in shape” days tend to end with me consuming sugar?!?  Pregnancy is weird…

30 Weeks: What I’ve Learned

to celebrate our 30th week I thought I would show you the last 4 weeks of growth

1. 10 Weeks to go!

2. Heartburn hurts like the dickens. I’m sorry for anyone that has this condition in everyday life!

3. Does anyone remember what sleeping through the night feels like? No?  Huh, me either.

4. While sleep is not happening, my body is working hard at making sure I wake up sore. I get a charlie horse in my calves almost every night, making it interesting when I step out of bed. O.U.C.H.

5. Feeling baby Ringl have the hiccups is my favorite experience (so far). She likes to wake me up with them at 6am, almost as dependable as an alarm clock.

6. I slept with 1 body pillow and 4 regular pillows this week. I have to climb into my spot and snuggly tuck myself into a comfortable position. At least that’s the new routine when I don’t just settle for the couch.

7. I’ve decided, despite the fact that it’s winter, it is time to get myself some comfy cotton dresses. The less pressure on my belly, the better. Oh, and some yoga pants. Time to finally give in and invest in comfort!

8. The past few weeks I’ve been up throughout the night to body aches and the baby kicking, while my hubby dreams away. Foreshadowing?

9. My whole life I could never get over feeling guilty as I pictured my husband heading off to work while I stayed at home to be with the baby. After a few of these sleepless nights, that guilt has washed away. He’ll see the bags under my eyes and know that my work was equally as challenging, and without a lunch break included.

10. I have never wanted a pedicure & massage more in my life! I sure wish I had added those to my Christmas list…

11. While I say I’m more than ready for the baby to be here, I know that once she comes I am going to miss feeling her flutter and kick throughout the day. It is comforting knowing that she is safe and has everything she needs while in my belly-cocoon.

12. Since being in the 3rd trimester my belly button has officially popped! Stephen says it’s my bodies way of telling me ‘the turkeys done’.

13. My hips are killing. At my last appointment the nurse showed me some exercices but I don’t remember them because I was busy holding in my laughter while watching her demonstrate.

14. Getting out of the car has become an exercise. One leg out, two legs out, hands on knees and push up.

15. We are pretty much at a stand-still in the nursery until after our baby shower. I don’t want to buy anything in case we receive it as a gift, so I’m hoping Stephen will suddenly become interested in decorating so we can get it the way I’ve pictured in my head.

16. I’ve gone from a full-time napper to a nester. I need this house nice and clean and organized. Time to scratch off all the items on my to-do list!

17. Stephen couldn’t make it to our last 2 appointments so I got my sister to record my appointment so he can hear the heartbeat. Now if only I could crop a swimsuit models stomach into the video…

Thirteen & Counting

Today was the last appointment while in my 2nd trimester. I was pleased to see that I had only gained 4 pound since the last appointment a month ago (especially since we had our church christmas potluck the night before)!  Baby Ringls heartbeat was strong and loud, which always puts my heart & mind at ease. I was lucky enough to have my glucose tolerance test today, which means I had to drink some nasty sugar water substance and wait 1 hour for a test. They want to make sure my calcium and vitamin D levels are where they should be so instead of a finger prick I had to get blood drawn. I think the worst part about giving blood is removing the cotton ball that is taped to your arm. That junk hurts!  After the appointment I did some Christmas shopping with mom. We have our family Christmas party in Biloxi this weekend, so I got our secret santa gifts for the party (both of which I wouldn’t mind ‘stealing’ for myself)!  I counted it up and we only have 4 gifts/people left to shop for. I am ahead of schedule this year. God bless online shopping & free shipping!!

Tomorrow begins the start of my 3rd, and final, trimester! That means we have 12 weeks to go until our due date (if she comes on time!)  My uncle Steve placed his bet on Sarah arriving on March 6th. I’m okay with early arrival guesses, just don’t go pushing me a few weeks back, ok  ;)   I have to admit, if she comes on my birthday (March 13th) I certainly won’t complain, that would pretty much be the best birthday present of my life. However, I’m still rooting for 3/11/11

Last we have my weekly photo. No post is complete without a photo!

Baby it’s Cold Outside

Today starts weeks 27 for baby Ringl. Statistically she should now weigh 2 pounds! She is growing SO fast now, it blows my mind. Especially since the first 15 weeks felt like a year!

Clothes are getting a bit frustrating. I had to visit the maternity section of Target last weekend to buy a dress for the wedding we attended. Shirts are getting either too tight, or too short in the front. Jeans are… not my best friend, lol. Not that they don’t fit, but by the end of the day I feel uncomfortable having something ‘holding’ me in. Does that make sense?!?! At least I don’t have to worry about belts or anything :)

I gotta show you how big baby Sarah is. It’s blowing my mind!

Here’s me:

..

Sarah @ 27 Weeks

.

It blows my mind how big she is! Of course, it totally makes sense in reference to my current stomach size! She blinks now, is using her lungs, and wakes up and sleeps in regular intervals. She DEFINITELY moves around a lot!  We’ve got 2 weeks until Christmas, 5 weeks until my first baby shower, and exactly 13 weeks until we get to meet our baby girl  (if she comes on her Friday due date)!

We are hoping to get our Christmas tree tomorrow! Maybe then it’ll feel a bit more like Christmas in the Ringl household. Hopefully I’ll have a picture to post soon!

25 Weeks: What I’ve Learned

Does this shirt make my belly look big… Nevemind, don’t answer that {15 weeks to go}

.

.

1. My feet have completely disappeared from view.

2. I feel great most of the time. My least favorite times of the day are sitting up in bed, getting out of the ‘corner’ of the couch, when I sneeze (ouch), and my comes-in-twos hiccups (ouch!).

3. I have to rotate sides when I sleep, and can’t do so without ‘guiding’ my stomach by hand. Also, if I take a nap/sleep without a pillow between my legs I wake up with some serious hip pain.

4. While Sarah is only about 1 1/2 pounds, I have gained about 24! Thankfully, I’m not self-conscious about this because I know she’s healthy and the weight will all come off in a healthy amount of time.

5. I went to the theatre and have never wanted a movie to end so quick. Those chairs are anything but comfortable right now! However, the popcorn is still deeeelicious!!

6. I can’t eat big portions anymore. I now work around all-day snacking to help prevent indigestion.

7. The fatigue has returned. After breakfast, I’m tired. After a snack, I’m tired. When I walk around, I get tired. Baby Ringl must be going through a major growth spurt!

8. Our little girl is a night owl, just like her dad. I’m hoping that changes before she arrives!

9. We have finished the painting of the nursery. That’s 1 task down, only 432 or so to go.

10. Stephen put headphones on my belly with Christmas music playing and Sarah starting moving all around. It was an awesome experience!

11. Over Thanksgiving I was able to see a lot of family and it was so fun seeing reactions to my baby bump! My older brother Matt was totally floored, it was pretty funny.

12. Only 3 1/2 months until we get to meet our baby girl. If she comes on time that is.

13. In a few weeks reaching down into the washer to switch the laundry is going to be very difficult.

14. When I see a food commercial I have found my cravings to increase by 100 fold. The other night I wanted mozzarella sticks during a “30 Rock” episode. Then, a Hardee’s commercial had me wanting chicken fingers at 10pm.

15. Although Stephen offers, I have yet to send him out to buy food I thought I needed RIGHT away.

16. I’m close to no longer having an innie belly button. If you ask me to locate it over my shirt, it’s near impossible.

We Named Baby Ringl

Bump Update

It’s the end of November and we have 15 weeks left until we should be meeting baby Ringl!

We went to my grandparents lake house for Thanksgiving and had ourselves a bonfire, despite the fact that it was 70+ outside. I love when the cool weather comes in and the water gets low. Makes for some great walks, and if you dropped anything off the pier during the summer you can usually find it :)

Upon request, I have a bump update for you:

.Here we are at 24 weeks (and 6 days):

.

I hope everyone had a fabulous time with friends and family. I think baby Sarah enjoyed her in-utero thanksgiving, she definitely ate plenty and had a great post-meal nap  ;)
