Spring Photo Challenge

Minus these past few days of crazy rain, the little ones have decided that they should be outside all day. All day. Everyday. Rain or shine. Sweltering heat. Cold windy breezes. You know what, I get it, because my kids love getting wet, dirty, and sticky, whether from the hose, bath, or rain falling from the sky. I love that they enjoy being outside so much. Although I think I’d have a better appreciation if we had a fence in the backyard so I didn’t have to be standing right there in momma-mode making sure no one sneaks into my backyard and snatches my children. Am I the only one that thinks crazy things like that? That’s how mom-brain works, worst-case scenario is always on alert. Motherhood is strange you guys. Awesome, amazing and totally weird.

So, outside. Back on point. A website I’ve been reading for a few years is having a Photo Challenge. Not a voting sort of thing, but a challenge for me personally. This months theme is Spring, and this is what I wanted to share.

Spring Toddler Tantrum: When a little one doesn’t agree it’s time to go back inside.

Happy Outdoor Weather season! ;)

Although I admit I prefer outside meltdowns over cabin fever any day!

The Bushes

A few weeks ago I got to take some family photos for some great friends.

Sara, Jordan and their two kiddos, Jairus and Evangeline are currently living here in Pensacola while waiting to relocate to Uruguay. They are going to be serving with a team to share the name and love of Jesus in not just a new location, but a completely different country with a foreign language. The Lord has called each of His disciples to share His name with all nations, to the ends of the earth, and this amazing family does not take that role lightly. They are on fire, the way God desires each of us to be, and they are an inspiration and encouragement to me and my family.

Here are a few shots of their beautiful family.

The Bush Family

I am so glad that God placed this family in our lives. Sara and I met back in college and we have hit many milestones together. We had our first and second children within 2 months of each other, both times. We missed one another’s baby showers because the other was in labor. The very thought of going through a pregnancy without her along side me is a sad and weird thought.

Join me in praying for them. From traveling to raise funds and the patience and joy in awaiting the Lords timing in their move. To continue to use them in their current placement, sharing the love of Jesus in their neighborhood. They are people you don’t forget once you meet them and you know you are blessed to have a relationship with them. True friendships are hard to come by, and that is something I know not to take for granted.

They have had a very busy and prayer filled 2013 and I look forward to seeing and hearing how the Lord uses them in this coming year.

The Smith Family

Last week I got to take some family photos for one of my best friends. I’ve known Melissa since the first year of high school when we rode the bus together. We survived high school together and while in college had many late nights with pizza and sunkist. I am so thankful for her friendship and was honored to photograph her beautiful family. She and Nate had a baby boy in July and he was the perfect little smiler for us.

This was the first time I’ve done a family photo session (other than my own families) and I had a blast.

Living in Florida makes for finicky weather, so after a reschedule from rain we were able to get together when it was happily not hot. The skies were overcast, which made for some great lighting (and a lot of learning for me)!

I had a great time and loved getting to capture this season of their life. Watch out Melissa, this time next year he will be running bases with Nate! Love you guys.

Once Upon A Pregnancy

It would seem I’m going in a weird order with my photography-related updates. First comes labor, then comes baby, then comes pregnancy…?

They are all pictures that I am proud of and I’m excited to continue sharing them with you.

I can’t believe the sweet little baby in that ultrasound is already over 6 weeks old. Time flies friends. Time flies.

A first

I have some pictures to share from our visit to Chick-fil-A yesterday. Mom, Miriah, and I spent the afternoon together and mom treated us to lunch. We decided on Chick-Fil-A because it’s the one spot where people eat and expect to hear children running around and squealing in the kid-zone.
I like to relax while I eat, and Sarah prefers to eat and run… It provides both.

Now, back to the reason for this post. While at lunch Sarah had her first-ever ice cream cone. She’s had ice cream before, but never on a cone and never her very own all to herself. She was a huge fan. Check these out.

The first couple licks were funny to watch. I think she was confused by the cold on her lips, but wanted to keep going bc it tasted good.
I was proud to learn that she was a great cone-sharer! She didn’t mind giving me some. I actually think she wanted to watch us eat it. She must have been perfecting her form.

By the end of it she was a pro!
We will be sure to trade in the kids meal toy for ice cream in the future! Definitely a good deal, and way worth the cute sticky mess :)
Gotta love Florida. It’s perfectly normal to have an ice cream cone in January!

Christmas Eve Eve

Hope you all have a great time celebrating Christmas over the next few days. We will be spending our time with friends, family, and occasionally just the 4 of us!

Tonight we are having brinner with some friends, and probably getting some good laughs in while watching Christmas Vacation and playing cards :)

Lastly, pictures, because I can’t help showing off our sweet girls!

We can’t get enough of those two!
