E is 3

I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since the day Elanor was first placed in my arms. Oh how the time has flown. There were days that flew, and some that felt like an eternity. I think that sums up part of parenthood, in a way. It flies, even though some days/weeks or months feel like they will never end. Three entire years though? This truly has flown by.

Elanor was such an easy baby. Her labor and birth were peaceful. She nursed like a champ and did so until the day she decided to quit at 15 months. She still loves to cuddle and does the sweetest thing where she tucks her arms in underneath herself and against our chest, which is when we know she’s there to stay for a while.

Physical touch is probably her biggest love language. Lately she has been asking me to lay with her when she falls asleep for her nap and at the occasional bedtime. When she sneaks in our room at night, maybe once  a week, she cuddles up next to me and pulls my arm out to lay her head on it, she calls it her mommy-pillow.

She is fierce, strong, tough, hard headed, independent while also tender, soft spoken, shy and gentle.

When I wear dangle earrings she always notices and she loves to slowly take them out of my ears and then put them back in. I don’t fear it a bit because she is so focused and soft with her movements.

She went through a stint between about 18 months and 2 1/2 where she didn’t take a nap during the day. Something amazing happened and she is back to taking a nap in the early afternoon. She gets up around 6:30 and is usually ready to nap around 11. Sarah stopped napping around the same time, but never started back like Ella has. I think she needs that extra sleep to keep up with her sister.

She loves peanut butter sandwiches, pancakes, bananas (and pretty much all fruit), yogurt, smoothies, hotdogs, food off of our plates even if it’s the same thing that is on her plate, grilled cheese, any cheese (sliced or shredded), bacon, eggs, rotisserie chicken, and dipping everything in ketchup.

And cereal. Lots of cereal.

She loves to play princesses with Sarah. She also enjoys pretending to be a cat or frog, or being a baby while Sarah is a mommy. Pretty much any game if it’s with Sarah.

She is a firecracker while simultaneously a quiet independent child. She is such a beautiful girl and we could not be more grateful for her and the joy she brings to our family and one day to the expanses that Christ gives her.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Elanor S0-Silly Ringl. We love you more than we can explain or comprehend.

We went and visited my friend Amanda. Sweet Amelia was just chilling out in her baby swing and Elanor LOVES little babies so she gave her some love. You can see her excitement in that first photo, but what you don’t get to see was when Amelia got a hand full of Ella’s hair after that 2nd photo and I had to help her escape. I had a tiny proud-mom moment when after she was free she just looked at Amelia and said “silly girl”.

Sarah was never much of an attached baby, or toddler. She is actually huge into cuddling with us now that she’s older and it’s her decision. Silly girl. Elanor, however, she has been an attached little one. She slept and napped on me as a newborn and baby. Would be okay if held or on the floor watching her sister play. I love that she still loves to be in the carrier. Some days she wants Up Up Up and my hands are not readily available, so I can grab my Ergo and she is good to go. At home, while blueberry picking, shopping at the store, all sorts of places. I never really understood how people wore their babies and children all the time, until I had a little one that preferred AND enjoyed it! I’ll miss these moments, which is why I don’t even care that I took a photo in my bathroom mirror. Smudges and all.

This past week I was excited to have an impromptu get together with some of my best friends. Women I have known since way back when we were just teenagers. Mid-puberty high school days. Remember those?! Ya, I blocked most of them too…

We had so many great times during the crazy years of  high school. There were few I kept in “real” touch with after we graduated. These gals are the ones. The friends that stuck with me through thick and thin. Throughout all the crazy times. Years full of laughter and quite a few tears. Technically there are 4 of us, but the other is Brett, and I doubt he wants to be included in a lot of our crazy gal-moments. Although he has been there for quite a bit of it. That boy deserves a medal.

Now, after almost 12 years since we graduated, two of us live in the Pensacola area and the other two BOTH relocated to Houston. I feel like most of the people I know live in these two places. And a few scattered in between those locations. Weird.

Last week Kelly decided to make a trip to Pensacola because she had a long weekend. Thank you for that MLK day.

A lot has changed since the days we first met. I could not be more thankful for their friendships and am excited about getting to watch all of our sweet children grow up. There will definitely be several friend reunions along the way.

Now to all of you born after the 80’s, these first few photos are what pictures look like that had to be scanned INTO a computer. The pre-(affordable) digital days.

 College Life

My 22nd birthday, minus Kel & plus Stephen

Ahh the college days

It isn’t gal time without mexican food!
(I don’t know why I look like a vampire here, maybe it was all the salsa I ate)

Kel & Lissa visiting our new house in Winter 2009

To try and show you a true time lapse I dug through some boxes to find my storage of photos burned onto CD-R’s. You guys, they were so unorganized! Nothing was sorted in date order. I appreciate iPhoto more than ever right now. Categorized and dated folders with quick reference and easy scanning. I was a really organized teenager, so I don’t know why I wasn’t picky about my CD-R burning methods. Do they still even sell CD-R’s?! If so, only buy CDR-W’s. It was annoying not being able to delete things I no longer cared about seeing on those disks. Better yet, just ignore that and only store via flash drives and online accounts. Who needs the extra clutter of big ol’ cd’s anyway?! ;)

Okay. That’s the end of that rabbit trail. On to more photos…

This was 2012. Kel & I had both just found out we were pregnant & Melissa joined forces soon after!
We made a pregnancy pact. No, not really.

We missed Melissa so she was there virtually (See picture that follows)
