Who loves pumpkin? I do! Pumpkin pie, yes! Pumpkin scented candles, heck yes! Pumpkin cake donut, oh gosh I want one now! Pumpkin Latte/coffee creamer, mmm, soo soo good! What about a pumpkin-outfitted baby?! Oh yes, I think that is my favorite!
This may be being posted on the day of Sarah’s 32nd week of life, but I thought you would still enjoy seeing her all decked out and cute. She is such a hoot. Halloween is going to be so much fun! Only 2 more weeks of costume-filled photo updates.
This past week my grandma came into town for a visit. On Tuesday night we all got together at mom and dad’s for a family dinner. I love family dinners. There is just something so relaxing about sitting around a table with people you love and chatting about life. Plus the exciting fast-approaching holidays. Commence with the Christmas list making!
I guess I should start the post with a picture of grandma and our cutie pie.
Here’s Sarah just before bedtime
She loves chomping on those fingers. Oh, you probably haven’t heard, Sarah got her first tooth last Friday! I know, our little girl is growing up so insanely fast! When I saw this picture I couldn’t help but wonder how she used to fit in my belly?!? She has gotten so big!
Before heading to bed she helped me make some yummy muffins and I’m going to share the recipe with you.
Alright, now onto the yummy reason for this post.
Super Easy Pumpkin Muffins
1 box cake mix
1 can of pumpkin
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Add all the ingredients together, blend, place in muffin wrappers, bake on 350 for 18-22 minutes and then enjoy
This is what they look like when you finish
Lesson #1: Fill the muffin cups to the top. The dough is pretty heavy and doesn’t rise like your standard fluffy muffins. However, next time I’m gonna try it with white cake mix so it may turn out a little different… (funfetti was all that we had on hand). Try ‘em out and let me know what you think.
Personally I think pumpkin based foods and scents should be in our life year-round. It tastes and smells soooo good! Then again if we did that I would probably get tired of it… Pssh, not!.
After my post about our new dining room setup I discovered, via a comment from my brother, that I never showed you our newest furniture addition.
Back at the end of December we went to Biloxi for a family Christmas Party and while there we visited a furniture store. We had been on the hunt for a new kitchen table for almost a year but just couldn’t find something we were sold on. That was, until we laid our eyes on this beauty.
It fit all the needs and wants on our list
- - Seat 6, check
- Solid wood, check
- Bench on one side so the table can be pushed against the wall, check
- Comfy on the tookus, check
- Last us the rest of our lives, [pre-determined] check
The chairs will be perfect for a booster seat when Sarah gets to that point
I’m a huge fan of the chairs. The lines are a combo of smooth, semi-curvy, & sturdy
This is the view from behind the kitchen counter
I felt like I was photographing a model with this angle… I’m such a big fan of this table
Despite the fact that the kitchen is all setup, we still have some work to do. The table needs to be stained. We got the table in the winter while I was almost 7 months pregnant so staining it indoors wasn’t an option because of the fumes, and we don’t have a covered outdoor space that will work. Over the past 9 months we did find a stain we both like (procrastinate much?!?). Now we just gotta figure out the when & where so the table can be completed. We should probably do that soon since this is the table we plan on having for the rest of our lives. It should definitely hold up that long and longer. Perhaps if she likes it (and her future-friends don’t damage it too much) we will will it to Sarah for her family one day
And that’s the story of our [belatedly new] kitchen table. (your welcome, Matt)
Another week has FLOWN by and Sarah is already 7 days older. We are another week into October and that means we had another fun Halloween inspired photo shoot!
Any guesses what you think she is this week?! Hehe… this one is Mario Brothers inspired
Our hoppity little 30 week old
Here she is on the move!
I couldn’t resist sharing this one. LOVE her!!!!
those big blue eyes have my heart
While the costume is a frog suit it makes me think more of Yoshi because of it’s green coat and big eyes. Makes me wanna play Mario Kart…
I can definitely tell you that this costume was not made for the outdoors in the south. It is insulated like nobodies business! Perfect for cool weathered states during Halloween though!
Until next week, happy hopping!
About 2 months back I went with my mom to a home liquidators store because she was in search of a bathroom sink. While there I spotted something I’ve been looking for; a floating shelf. Not only was it the same color as our kitchen cabinets, but it was also on clearance for $15! I immediately snatched it up. To top off the experience the shelf rang up for $12. Double score!!
Fast forward 2 months later and the shelf was sitting in the kitchen still waiting for a wall to hang on. I know, it’s a sad visual. Well on Monday my mom came over to see the little lady and we finally got one of my kitchen walls decorated! It’s amazing the work you can get done with an extra pair of hands!
Let me start by showing you what the kitchen looked like when we first moved in.
The much different after
I’m pretty happy with the results. Here it is from the view in the den.
Looking at this picture actually makes me aware that we need to paint some walls up in this house! Sarah’s nursery is the only room that has been painted since we moved in (which is coming up on 2 years soon!)
I figured it was high time I shared a recent project. Hope you like it
I don’t know about where you live, but the weather here has been fantastic! I’m talking turn off the AC, open the windows, and feel the wind wisp through the room. Luckily for me our little bean loves going on walks so we can enjoy the weather regularly.
While visiting my parents house one day last week I was walking Sarah around their backyard and she was pulling and ripping all the leaves and flowers she could get her hands on. During that moment it occurred to me that Sarah had never played outside. Of course she is just a baby and hasn’t ever asked to go outdoors, but I LOVE being in the sun, so to see Sarah have so much fun was very exciting for me I went and grabbed a blanket and we sat on the ground and I let her pull all the grass her little heart desired. She loved it! Our little girl has a thing for ripping things. I think it’s a texture thing. I wonder how many times I can say ‘thing’ in a sentence… I’ll save you the time and won’t try.
Here are a few snapshots I grabbed while we were basking in the beautiful weather.
Here she is taking out her paci so she can try and eat some leaves…
I also taught Sarah about shadows
I can’t express to you how much I love being a mom. I had no idea how satisfying and rewarding it would be!
It’s October folks. You know what that means?! Our first halloween with a child! To kick start the excitement I decided to have a little fun and dress our little girl up.
For Week 1 of October we have ourselves a 29 week old ballerina
I feel like this picture would be perfect if she were dressed as Tinkerbell
& because I have a hard time choosing just 1 picture…
(She gets this look when she notices the flash pop up on the camera. She’s fascinated by it)
Last, a sitting up photo
I love that last one so much. Watching her maneuver her little legs and arms so she can sit is an incredible thing to witness.
I’m already excited about coming up with next weeks costume! Halloween is definitely 1000 times more fun with a child.
Exciting extra bonus: Trick-or-Treating!!! Especially since she’s too young to eat candy (not that I’ll eat it all or anything…)
