I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. On Friday I dropped Stephen off at work and ran a bunch of errands I’ve been putting off since before Christmas. It always feels good to scratch items off my to-do list. After Stephen got off work we visited a few stores and headed to our friends Brandon and Nicoles to hangout. We ate some chili, played some cards and enjoyed our favorite dessert, Krusteaz Cinnamon Crumb Cake. It is soo delicious!!
I had a huge surprise happen that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share until I posted pictures of the “Nursery Reveal”, but I just can’t hold it in anymore. On Saturday Stephen had a few appointments, so while he was out I cleaned and put away our Christmas decorations. Well, when he got home I was surprised to see his mom follow him inside. I had just talked to him and he didn’t mention anything, but since dad now works on Saturdays I figured she was coming over for some fun company. We were chatting when I was quickly distracted by the bag of Chick-fil-A she handed me. Then, while I was unloading some delicious lunch Stephen handed me a piece of railing that looked like a ladder. I was wondering why he gave me this ladder-looking thing and then mom got all smiley and they told me it was 1 piece of our new crib for baby Ringl. We immediately went out to the car and unloaded the rest of the materials. Stephen then closed the door to the nursery to put the bed together while I demolished my lunch. Less than an hour later he came out to get us and we walked into the nursery to find this:
( it’s this crib here from Target )
My mother-in-law found this Carter 4-in-1 Crib on super awesome clearance and snagged it up right away. It is actually a step up from the one we registered for, and she got it for a better deal. Good work mom, you know I love a sweet bargain!!
Now for a snapshot of the happy, exciting, now-I-can-start-decorating realization, moment:
– Thank you so much mom and dad –
I honestly didn’t think we would be getting a crib as a gift. I’ve been searching craigslist almost daily to find a good deal on something that was a) affordable, b) clean & had ALL the pieces, and c) safe with really good reviews (which is not an easy task on craigslist). I think that is why I was SO incredibly surprised that we were gifted the crib. I guess this means I don’t have to plan on a crib makeover, which will be nice. I was thinking we would be cleaning, sanding, and painting a used online find. That, or baby Ringl would be sleeping in a dresser drawer for a little while like a lot of people did back in the day ;)
So there ya have it. A fun weekend surprise. We have received a few other things for the nursery, but I don’t want to share everything at once. I gotta save up some good material to share over the next 8 weeks before baby Ringl gets here!
I am especially excited for my first baby shower this weekend! That, and my brother Matt is coming in town from St. Augustine. It’s gonna be a great weekend filled with friends and family!
